PURPOSE
Purpose of Proposals: For this we need help getting through all the red tape. As well we will need any assistance that the governments (federal and or local), can provide in reduced taxes, and or housing, and or buildings, and or transportation services, also financial and technological services. We need assistance with setting up grants to financially cover the cost of startup etc. If we could get grants are funds that we would not be required to pay back, as well as or also loans where we could pay back dollar for dollar without added interest. These financial tools are allowable. However, we are not able to use traditional loans that are available in this society today. (Credit Cards, Loans with interest rates, etc). The reason is because we are commanded in our religion to not deal in Usury, just as the Christians and Jews have been advised not to do this. However, in Islam it is seriously commanded in our text.
So those who strive hard and attempt wholeheartedly to correctly practice the religion cannot and will not take loans that will have interest. (This was part of the down fall of the economy, people taking on loans and not being able to pay them back, due to the exorbitant increase in the payback rates, taking advantage of the poor like this is frowned upon in Islaam, and restraining from usury, it is a protection for the people). So, Instead we live as the former religious institutions of the Church and Synagogues used to do, we depend on each other, and the religious establishments are drawn upon to assist with the legal collection of funds to be dispersed to those who are needy. However, as is known If the community is already poor this becomes an arduous task.
Therefore, we can really use and really need grant writers, and access to the faith-based initiative programs of the federal and local governments. My organization is called: Markaz As Salafi South or (Salafi Center South). And it will include 8 umbrella organizations that will be inclusive in refuting terrorist and their ideologies, as well as establishing community services for our poor and disenfranchised members. This will include a diversity and economic platform that will enable the youth and elderly to learn and become financially independent, by establishing scholarships and retirement accounts. Teaching them to be tolerant functional members of society.
We do hope you understand the seriousness of this endeavor and will assist by any means necessary to help establish a community amongst the other communities that will not be a burden on society.
Examples: of thriving present cultural communities are the Jewish, Asian, Sikh, and even some private Christian school programs. You see they establish their house of worship. (Most seek and get Loans with interest from banks and others). Then they establish supporting service programs surrounding these establishments. Examples are the private religious schools, hospitals (Beth Israel, Baptist Medical, Methodist University, etc). Then they establish stores and gardens and or farms to supply those stores. After starting out asking for assistance, they then become self-sufficient by the will of Allah. And are no longer burdens upon their community, as well they become productive members and institutions aiding in the good of the society. This is our wish to become this type of lasting and living example for the struggling youths and minorities of our community. God willing (Inshallah).
